Resource: Augmented Reality: The past, present and future via The Next Web.
The next five years should see some significant advances in AR technology, and you can expect to see it become far more integrated in our everyday lives. Resource: The promise of augmented reality: Gaga in a living room via the BBC.
Augmented reality has been touted as the “next big thing” for a while, yet mainstream success has proved elusive. So what can be done to turn it from a gimmick into a commercial necessity?
The Admiral Nelson reference in this story started me thinking (I know, dangerous). I sometimes attend U.S. Civil War re-enactments and usually run into Abraham Lincoln, who knows a lot about the U.S. Civil War. I always call him Mr. President and treat him with as much respect as I would any President. It is a version of augmented reality.
Wouldn’t it be interesting to combine a real person with AR?

Resource: Atop TV Sets, a Power Drain That Runs Nonstop via NYTimes.com.
Cable providers and box manufacturers like Cisco Systems, Samsung and Motorola currently do not feel consumer pressure to improve box efficiency. Customers are generally unaware of the problem — they do not know to blame the unobtrusive little device for the rise in their electricity bills, and do not choose their boxes anyway.
Change this.
