So Long, Bob Feller
Contributed by Rick DeVan on December 16, 2010 at 12:33 pm ET
Bob Feller’s playing days were over well before I was born. He was barely on my radar while growing up except for an occasional mention by an old-timer. And speaking of radar, 105 mph pitches ain’t too shabby, although they didn’t have our sophisticated measurement tools in his era.
Let’s just say he was fast.
Real fast.
Among many other baseball accomplishments, he no-hit the Yankees in Yankee Stadium. So, you gotta love him just for that if nothing else.
The statue at the entrance to the ballpark doesn’t hurt, either.
Reading the article Bob Feller, The Greatest Cleveland Indian, dies at age 92 this morning I realized that, despite his greatness his life had all the ups-and-downs of, well, life.
And, that’s a life. Lived.

Lebron James “Rise” Commercial & Cleveland’s Response

With apologies to friends and associates in Miami and Beat fans everywhere. Enjoy LeBron while you can before he stabs you in the back, too.
There’s a social media lesson to be learned from the LeBron James episode. In ancient times, it was possible to make an entire city despise you (looking at you, Art Mod… oh… I can’t even get the guy’s full name out) and then pack up and leave and go about your life in another place with little or no lasting ramifications.
Not anymore.
Just ask LeBron James.

At first I thought this was a good idea, but now, well, not so much. If you can make sense of it, go for it. Me, I would rather sit back and enjoy the game… as soon as I log off.
Go Rangers!
