Resource: Qantas sorry for ‘racist’ tweet via The Sydney Morning Herald.
Qantas has been embarrassed by a publicity stunt on Twitter that backfired. The airline yesterday issued an apology for awarding free tickets to the Bledisloe Cup on Saturday night to two Brisbane men who “blacked up” to impersonate their favourite Wallaby.
You know the drill: “Think before you tweet.”

Resource: Entenmann’s Hashtag Surfing Fails Hard With #NotGuilty Tweet via The Washington Post.
I have waited a couple of days to post and comment on this story. You may have heard of it already, at least in passing. Like in the Kenneth Cole fiasco (Marketing: Kenneth Cole), my cynical angel reminds me that having a Twitter post including a trending hashtag up for fifteen minutes is an eternity in Twitter time. After fifteen minutes no one else would see it anyway so you may as well take it down. If it was intentional it got the job done. Peoples is talking.
My realist angel says: “Forego the Gaga and listen to the news on the way to work.”

Resource: The Untold Turkish Secret Of Marketing via American Express Open Forum.
If you could imagine the worst possible time to try and promote your business, what would it be? For many of us, it would be that moment when a potential customer has just chosen to buy from a competitor. The smart thing to do would be to consider that a lost sale and move on to other potential customers.
For Turkish Airlines, however, that moment is what they have based an entire component of their marketing strategy around.
Tapping future potential.
