Don’t judge someone or their abilities by their Facebook friends.
Social network friends can run the gamut from close friends and family to business associates to long-lost high school crushes who will soon be indicted for embezzlement. A friends list is two dimensional, the relationships behind the lists are much more complicated.
That’s it for the tips for today.

Resource: 40% – Reconnecting Online
Though many online Americans worry about the amount of information available about them on the internet, and take steps to manage their online profile, many have also experienced the benefits of being socially available on the Web.
At some point in the future there will be no need for reconnecting. Connections will last a lifetime, whether we want them to or not.

Resource: Why Designers Hate Crowdsourcing
Mix crowdsourcing, the Internet and a huge pool of underemployed graphic designers, and the outcome is a company that’s grabbed a great deal of attention. In the two and a half years since it launched, Web startup 99designs out of Melbourne, Australia, boasts that it’s helped to broker 48,000 graphic design projects for big name clients like Adidas and DISH Network as well as for thousands of small businesses.
From a small business point-of-view crowdsourcing looks like the ideal way to get all of your design needs completed dirt-cheap. At first blush.
If you are serious about your business don’t even think about crowdsourcing. If you are not serious, go for it.
Why not?
The simplest reason is the answer you will get when you ask yourself:
Do I have a long-term relationship with, say, my auto mechanic, my butcher, my plumber?
If your answer is “yes” to any of these you know why you need a relationship with your designer.
Simple as that.

Resource: Teens Want More From Social Media.
The results of a study from OTX suggest that assumption might not be completely true. The study reveals that teen users are cutting back on their use of these two popular sites. Is the decline the natural result of teens moving on to the next new new thing? Or is a deeper market force at work here?
As in surfing, the wave of social media is ever-changing.
