Getting It: Silent on Twitter

A common reason given by those who have yet to try Twitter: “I have nothing to say.”

The truth is, you don’t have to post a message to get the most out of Twitter.

Finally! We are finally getting around to the fact that not everyone has something to say. In fact, very few people have much to say.

I don’t have much to say. I have a lot to share, but not much to say.

And that’s OK.

That’s why I said in my Welcome message on this blog that it’s fine if you comment and just as fine if you are in “read-only” mode.

Much of all of that is Web 2.0 and social media is predicated on supposedly great conversational opportunities, opportunities that rarely pan out — at least in public forums. Maybe it’s time we just sit back and listen for a change.
